Once again, I got to take a deep look into my print and print production background when I was approached with the question," We need something to bring to funder meetings." This started me on the journey of creating this multi-functional presentation piece to wow top-tier donors and other high-level stakeholders.
EdTrust is a national nonprofit that works to close opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income families. They rely on support from donors and foundations, some of which are high profile, with many other well-deserving organizations vying for their donations. It was important for their presentations to be streamlined into one compelling piece that reflects professionalism and high regard for their supporters and other key stakeholders.
Consolidate various information pieces into a single cohesive presentation that is dynamic and energetic – reflecting the communities served by the Ed Trust – that can serve multiple departments and objectives.
I was tasked with creating a cohesive and professional presentation and giving examples of what they had in mind. I created a design based on these guidelines. Still, I believed they needed something better, so I also designed a multi-purpose folder that would check several boxes: customizable to the user's needs, save on print costs, and maintain brand consistency throughout the organization's offices nationwide.
The client had many brand colors, some quite vibrant and others less. I chose to use the more neutral (yet also dynamic) shades to avoid detracting from photos and modern typography. I created die-cut sections for inserts, booklets, and letters, all of which can be printed in-house for quick and efficient use of resources. I worked closely with in-house copy editors and print partners on paper stock samples, quotes, and press checks to ensure the work would render precisely as I envisioned. The end product balances eye-catching energy and excitement with a polished, beautiful appearance in a highly adaptable presentation folder.
The printer was so impressed with the die-cut concept that he used it as an example of multi-purpose folders for his prospective clients. See the quotes below.
"I use the Ed Trust folder as an example of exceptional design and unique engineering of how multiple brochures could be displayed in a Corporate folder. Having been in the Printing and Graphics industry for over 30 years this Brand folder stands out as one of the best uses of color and design I have ever seen."
