Editorial Design Process.
Phase One
Research & Design Concepts
LOMAXcreative will have an in-depth strategy discussion about the purpose of the magazine/layout, target audience, pagination, and production schedule. Design concepts will be created after this initial research and discussion of the mood boards.
Phase Two
Print & Design
After receiving feedback on the mood boards, LOMAXcreative will start the design process.
Phase Three
Pre-press & Production
We will prepare the design files for press and online distribution following the editorial design’s approval. This can include implementing printer marks, adjusting bleeds, and packaging fonts and images. The press-ready files will be delivered to the client or printer of the client’s choice, and the web-ready PDF will be delivered for upload.
Phase Four - Optional
Press Management
If desired, we can work directly with the printer and manage the final production of the editorial design. This typically includes reviewing press proofs for quality control.
Phase Five - Optional
Marketing Collateral
LOMAXcreative can design marketing collateral to help create excitement and buzz for the editorial launch; social media is always a good place to start. If desired, these items can be priced separately.
Phase One:
Research & Editorial Project Concepts Kickoff Meeting.
In this meeting, we will discuss the client’s brand, target audience, competitors, industry, production schedule, and core values. This meeting typically lasts one hour. Following the meeting, LOMAXcreative will continue researching all discussed items to generate initial ideas for the client’s editorial design.
Research & Mood Boards.
Mood boards, a creative and innovative collection of design elements, provide initial images, concepts, colors, and styles proposed for the project’s general “look and feel.” They are designed to inspire and excite, showcasing the potential of the project’s visual design.
The first round of mood boards typically includes 2–3 style concepts delivered to the client in digital format for feedback. We then refine the style until we have an approved direction for the project’s visual design.
Phase Two:
Print Design.
Print Design.
Upon incorporating the client’s feedback on the mood boards, LOMAXcreative will proceed to design the editorial layout. Every design project encompasses multiple rounds of design delivery and client feedback sessions. The specifics for each iteration will be delineated in the statement of work corresponding to the respective project.
Phase Three:
Pre-press Production.
Once the editorial design is approved, LOMAXcreative will diligently prepare the design files for the press. This comprehensive process includes implementing printer marks, adjusting bleeds, and packaging fonts and images. The press-ready files will then be delivered to the client or, if preferred, to the client’s choice printer.
