This capabilities overview outlines the process LOMAXcreative employs to deliver exceptional quality and ensure client satisfaction in report design projects. I adopt a comprehensive, multi-phased approach, collaborating closely with clients to ensure the final product precisely mirrors their vision and exceeds their expectations.
Report Design Process.
Phase One
Research & Design Concepts
LOMAXcreative will have an in-depth discussion with the client about the target audience for the report project. Initial design concepts will be developed after this initial research and discussion of the mood boards.
Phase Two
Print & Design
After receiving feedback on the mood boards, LOMAXcreative will start the report design process.
Phase Three
Pre-press & Production
Following approval of the report design, we will prepare the design files for press or online distribution. This can include implementing printer marks, adjusting bleeds, and packaging fonts and images. The press-ready files will be delivered to the client or printer of the client’s choice, and the web-ready PDF will be delivered for upload.
Phase Four - Optional
Press Management
If desired, we can work directly with the client’s chosen printer to manage the final production of the annual report design. This typically includes reviewing press proofs for quality control.
Phase Five - Optional
Marketing Collateral
LOMAXcreative can design marketing collateral to help create excitement and buzz for a report launch; social media, flyers, and invitations are good places to start. These items can be priced separately.
“I describe myself as “aesthetically bankrupt,” but working with Karen at LOMAXcreative makes me feel like a million bucks. I’ve had the chance to work with Karen on multiple policy research products from state report cards to tiles for social media to report layouts to website designs and more. Karen has calmly and confidently navigated me through the design process, highlighting different design options while offering her professional opinion and patiently accommodating tweaks until things are just right. When I call in Karen for a design job, I know I’m going to walk away with a product I’m happy to show partners and the field.”
Phase One:
Research & Report Project Concepts Kickoff Meeting.
During this meeting, we will focus on delving into the client’s business, mission, target audience, competitors, industry landscape, and core values. Typically, this session lasts for an hour. Subsequently, LOMAXcreative will diligently research all discussed topics to craft initial concepts for the client’s report design.
Research & Mood Boards.
Mood boards include a collection of design elements that provide initial images, concepts, colors, and styles proposed for the report’s general “look and feel.”
The first round of mood boards, a flexible process that allows for adjustments and iterations, typically includes 2–3 style concepts delivered in a digital format for feedback. We then refine the style until we have an approved direction to proceed with for the visual design of the project.
Phase Two:
Print Design.
Print Design.
Once we receive feedback on the mood boards, LOMAXcreative will move forward and design the report. Each design project encompasses multiple rounds of design delivery and opportunities for client feedback. The specifics for each round will be clearly outlined in the corresponding statement of work for the project.
Phase Three:
Pre-press Production.
Upon approval of the report design, LOMAXcreative will meticulously prepare the design files for printing. This involves implementing printer marks, adjusting bleeds, and securely packaging fonts and images. The press-ready files will then be delivered to the client or the client’s chosen printer.

Phase four:
Optional: Press Management.
If desired, LOMAXcreative can work directly with the printer of the client’s choosing to manage the final production of the annual report design. This typically includes reviewing press proofs for quality control.
